Using the wrong products for your skin type:
Everyone’s skin is unique, therefore each person will need specific products for their skin type and concern. When it comes to investing in your skincare products, make sure you have been advised by a professional who has taken the time to check your skin, recommended you the right products for your skin and educated you on how to use them properly at home.
Not wearing SPF:
Sun Protection Factor should be worn every single day. UV rays are present daily and can damage the DNA in our skin cells. If you are outside all day long in the sunshine, make sure you are re applying your SPF every 2 hours. If it is a day you are working from home, not leaving the house, and not working close to a window, then it is a different story. SPF is your greatest protection against skin cancer and changes to the surface of the skin such as, pigmentation and wrinkles.
Not being consistent:
Results do not happen overnight. They take time and dedication. If you use a serum for a week it will not change your skin. Be consistent with your products, steps and routine. You will see results if you are using the right products for your skin and taking the time to use them correctly. You can compare your skincare routine like going to the gym, the more often you go, the quicker you see your body tone up.
Rushing or skipping your cleansing step:
Cleansing is such an important step in anyone’s skincare routine. If your skin is not cleansed properly then no other products can work well into the skin and do their job. Spend a minute massaging your cleansing product into your skin (gently). And enjoy it.
Using your AHA/BHA or enzyme exfoliants too often can end up causing havoc to your skin. Yes, they are great to do and they have wonderful softening and glowy results. But when they are used too often, they will strip your skin of its natural oils and the skin will become imbalanced and unhappy. This takes quite some time to rebuild, so do yourself a favor and stick to only exfoliating weekly. This goes for using your ‘active’ tonics too.
