Simple Morning Skincare Routine

First, just a little reminder that it is never too late to start (or get back into) a skincare routine. I promise you will thank yourself in ten years’ time if you do have one. Don't feel you need to have the most expensive skincare products. Just simply get started!

Taking the time to apply skincare products not only benefits your skin, but it also gives you some me-time. A simple mindful cleanse, tone, serum and moisturize in the morning can do wonders for you and your skin. Setting the tone for a productive day!

Here are a few little tips on getting into (or back into) a simple morning skincare routine:

Gentle morning cleanse: This helps to wake up the skin after sleeping, prepares your skin for absorption of products such as serums and moisturizers. Skipping this step means you have not properly prepared or cleaned your skin. Think of all those dust mites and bed bugs!

Applying a toner: Is optional, I think it is an important step in any skincare routine because you can use toners with specific ingredients to target different skin concerns. Toning also brings the skin back to its natural pH level, it helps to keep the skin balanced.

Serums: If you don’t have a serum and you’re in your mid to late 20’s then, it is time my friend! Serums are amazing for the skin. They really are a ‘treatment’ product. You can choose one depending on your skin type or skin needs. What you will notice when it comes to serums is that they are more on the pricey side. But that is down to how they are made. They have a smaller molecule size (compare to other types of products) and expensive, active ingredients are used in their production. It is worth it to invest in a good serum. Thank me later!

Moisturizer: Even the oiliest of skins needs to moisturize. Especially in these colder months the skin needs more moisture. Change your day cream as your skin’s needs change too. If you have not already been using a serum, I suggest start using one under your day cream. That can-do wonders for the skin. Adding hydrating mists are nice to do as well to keep the skin hydrated. Keep one at your desk and spritz throughout the day!

SPF: Whether is sunny, rainy, sleet or snowing you should wear a sun protection factor everyday as a daily defense. Daylight is present 365 days in the year. SPF should be in your daily routine. Especially be careful if you use ‘active ingredients’ such as alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid and retinol. If you use any of these, you should already be SPF savvy!

And a little something extra if your skin needs a boost in the mornings (and if you have the time!)

  • Apply a Sana Soya Milk Moisturizing Sheet Mask to the skin for however many minutes you can. (Aim for 5-20 minutes). This helps to fake a good nights sleep by nourishing and rejuvenating skin cells and leaves a beautiful glow.
  • Apply some hydrating and repairing Kose Clear Turn Eye Masks under each eye for a few minutes. They help to soothe and brighten the skin.
  • Use the Massage Roller to wake up the skin and increase blood flow. You can do this at any stage in your routine, but preferably with some slip (product) to glide well. OR you can also reach for the Facial Cups and give yourself a little deep tissue massage to again, increase blood flow and wake the skin right up! These must be used with an oil. Both of these tools will leave the skin radiant and glowing.
  • Take your hands and give yourself a gentle little DIY massage. Lifting and massaging in a upwards and outwards movement. Get things moving! And glowing!

So there you have a few basic little skincare tips to start your day. I will share a evening and weekly skincare routine in the next blog post. Remember, healthy skin doesn’t happen over night. It does take time and dedication. But you will get there with the right products, routine and professional guidance. If you need help on figuring out what products you should use.
