Get Glowing Skin at Home

Glowing, healthy skin can be achieved by anyone. A combination of the following steps will help you on your way to getting that glow at home.

1. Eat healthy, nutritious foods

A healthy skin always starts with a healthy inside first. Having a varied balanced diet that includes plenty fresh fruit and vegetables, good fats and protein is important for overall health. No cream or serum can substitute that of a well balanced, healthy diet. And the combination of both, good diet and a good skincare routine is what results in long term skin health.

2. Invest in good quality products for your skin type

There is no one size that fits all when it comes to skincare. Each skin is unique and therefore has it's own needs. Always make sure you choose good quality skincare products with active ingredients that are suitable for your skin type. Investing in products from a professional salon or clinic is always a better idea than choosing your products from the local grocery store. If you are not sure where to be begin when it comes to choosing skincare products, then book a skin consultation with a professional, they will guide you.

3. Exfoliate weekly

Depending on your skin type. Exfoliation can usually be done around 2-3 times a week. If you are a highly sensitive or irritated skin then maybe you don't even do this step. But if your skin can handle a AHA/BHA or enzyme type of exfoliation (chemical form of exfoliation) this is brilliant to buff off the dead skin cells, encourage cell turnover and allow the skin to show its natural glow. Be careful though, over exfoliation is very much a thing and can cause irritation and an imbalance to the skin.

4. Give yourself a regular face massage

With just your hands or grab your favorite Skin Wise tool. Massage is a wonderful way to get the blood moving in the face (and body). Always move in upwards and outward strokes when you are massaging at home. A rush of healthy oxygen and nutrients will come to the surface and your skin will glow. The more often you do this the better. When to massage? You can massage your cleanser into the skin for a few minutes before removing it in the morning or evenings. You can massage your moisturizer into the skin for a few minutes. You can massage an oil into the skin instead of using a moisturizer in the evenings. You can reach for your favorite skin tool when sitting on the couch or laying in bed. You can multitask with a sheet mask and use the massage roller over it. There are so many ways to give yourself a massage at home, find a way that works for you. When using our skin tools, follow the instructions in the user manual always.

5. Get enough sleep

Our skin repairs itself as we sleep so getting enough of it is very important a for healthy looking skin (and of course many more important benefits for the brain and body). All tissues and cells are in rejuvenation mode as we sleep so it is also important not to skip your evening skincare routine.

6. Exercise

Just like massage, exercise gets the blood moving in the face and body. It brings healthy new oxygen and nutrients to the skin which keeps it healthy. By stimulating the blood circulation, toxins are triggered to leave the body. Exercise has so many important health benefits but in relation to skincare - it will help a dull, tired, puffy looking skin to look more radiant and fresh. So get moving!

7. Use more face masks

There are many types of masks out there but when it comes to achieving healthy glowing skin then you will want to look for hydrating, soothing and calming masks. These usually come in the form of creams, gels or sheet masks. There are even over-night masks out there which help nourish your skin as you sleep and when you wake up you are hydrated and dewy #goals! You can apply a hydration type of sheet mask as often as you like because, the more hydration in the skin the better (depends on your skin type of course).

*Skin Wise Tip: pick 2-3 nights in the week where you do a mini facial including a massage, exfoliation and mask application. This will really help your skin to glow, well only if you have a super diet as well of course!

Go get your glow on!

I hope you have picked up some skin tips for yourself. Let me know if you have.
